Abstract
In this workshop, the presenters, two experienced online teacher educators, outline challenges typically faced by teachers in online professional development courses. They include (a) preparedness factors (different levels of background pedagogical knowledge and skills); (b) program factors (the mismatch between expectations of participating teachers and course facilitators), and (c) contextual factors (time management, balancing work, and course participation). The presenter will share with the audience some of the strategies they successfully implemented in the OPEN Program courses to overcome these impediments. Attendees of this session come away with techniques to differentiate and customize online support responses to teachers’ needs.
