It can be challenging to keep young learners engaged in virtual formats like Zoom, particularly if the students are introductory level. In this session, we will look at how the common software program Microsoft PowerPoint (and its free open source alternative, LibreOffice Impress) can be creatively used to make gamified activities that can be used in virtual or in-person classes. Attendees will leave equipped with a variety of fun ideas (and PowerPoint game templates!) that cater to the four skills and have proven successful in motivating younger learners.

How can we gamify the young learner classroom with common digital tools?
